It's snowing again...

There are two keys to surviving New England. One, watch the weather channel constantly. The other (if you fail at the first, or even if you don't) is to be prepared for EVERYTHING. Sadly, in my twenty-something years as a resident, I never once learned either of those tricks.
Long story short, this morning's snowstorm took me by complete surprise while I ate breakfst at (don't say it, don't say it...) iHop (I'm embarassed, with reason). So, I thought a fantastic opportunity to finally tackle the disorganization of my studio, right?
Okay, so there is never really a "fantastic" time to clean. But I made a minor dent. Then I just got bored and moved on to polishing rings...
Better luck next storm?

Rings waiting to be cast

I learned the lost wax casting technique from a jeweler while I was a junior in high school. My first ring was a rather large, (incredibly heavy), blobby sort of thing. I loved it at the time (still do), and learned a thing or two about casting.

Pay no attention to my winter-chapped New England hands... These are the wax forms that will be headed to the caster soon.
